Animal Care & Training Services (ACTS)

Pork consumers and retailers want verification of food safety and proper animal care in the meat they purchase. As a result, The Common Swine Industry Audit was developed in 2013 to foster continuous improvement to animal care and food safety standards within the US Pork Industry and allow for verification that a pork production site is in compliance with the established expectations.

Packer procurement agreements require swine producer participation in randomly selected third party audits of their animal care program. This allows the packers to verify compliance of established expectations on food safety and animal care programs being in place at the farms they purchase swine from.

Suidae Health & Production Animal Care and Training Service (ACTS) was developed to meet the needs of busy producers who are committed to maintaining the highest level of animal care and food safety standards. Our service will prepare each and every farm to exceed packer expectations and PQA Plus® standards alike.

    Outline of areas for improvement in the farm’s animal care and food safety programs to ensure third party audit compliance.
