McKenna Henningsen

Veterinarian

Dr. McKenna Henningsen grew up on a cattle, swine, and row crop farm in southeast Iowa. Through her involvement in 4-H and FFA, she developed a passion for livestock and agriculture at an early age.

McKenna earned her B.S. in Animal Science from Iowa State University in 2020 before continuing her education at Iowa State, where she graduated from veterinary school in 2024. She has spent the past couple of years practicing at a mixed-animal veterinary clinic, with much of her time focused on working with swine producers. She is excited to continue building on that experience while focusing more heavily on swine production and herd health. She especially enjoys the problem-solving and relationships that come with working alongside livestock producers.

McKenna met her husband, Derek, while on the livestock judging team at ISU. They are kept busy by their one-year-old son, Briggs. When she isn’t working with animals, Dr. Henningsen enjoys hiking, traveling, reading a good book, and cheering on the Cyclones.
